Prayer Requests

November 22, 2008

-      Pray for God's provision for my time in Switzerland and that I will be able to acclimate to the weather quickly!  The visa process is also a prayer point.

-     Pray for the work I am currently doing . . . at our downtown Pregnancy Center, in Kona, which does ultrasounds and educates those who are seeking information concerning their pregnancy and understanding their options.  Pray that I can influence their decision to continue their pregnancy rather than to abort the child.

-          Continue praying for the girls who participate in the Maria’s Project in Porto Velho and for the children and families of Vila Princesa -- the village by the garbage dump in Brazil -- to break the spirit of poverty, hopelessness, despair, drugs and alcohol, physical and sexual abuse and for the children to see hope and to escape the worst of the enemies schemes to keep them in poverty.

-          For the kids to remember -- especially on their worst days to “just say NO” to drugs and alcohol and for a breaking of the cycle of violence.

-          For the YWAM family that lives in Villa Princesa – especially for their finances, peace of mind, protection and direction as they have chosen a difficult community to work in.

-          For the students in the Intro. To Primary Healthcare school that I taught in – that they will be inspired to take it out to the developing nations and continue to teach and minister to others.

-          For the YWAMers who work in the tribes in the Amazon.  It is not easy to live for months at a time in villages where there is no electricity, no running water during very dry seasons and very wet seasons with approximately 10,000 insects and strange and toxic animals!  Pray especially for an anointing of languages and for the Holy Spirit to come and speak directly to the villagers.

Continue to pray for Muwaji’s law to be put into effect here in Brazil!  Visit the Hakani website if you haven’t already done that.

  • For clarity of communication in all regards.
  • Sensitivity to the Holy Spirit
  • Patience to be able to go with the flow of constantly changing plans here.  I know I'll be challenged on this as you pray . . . I hope I'm up for it!  :)
  • Capacity and patience in learning Portuguese
  • For my ministry partner (read husband!)

Answers!

  • My mom is doing well and has much range of motion in her shoulder.
  • I believe God answered our prayers concerning the Maria's Project evaluation.  I presented it on my last day in Brazil and they were very receptive to the ideas and feedback.
  • This time has not been what I expected!  It was very slow getting going past my language studies and I appreciate everyone's prayers concerning the breakthrough I needed.  I trust that this time of waiting was necessary for whatever God is doing here and doing in me.  We can only see in part and must have faith for the rest.
  • Today I complete 2 weeks of language learning and am doing well so I am told!  I hope to learn a lot more before this quarter is over.
  • My home church, Legacy Christian Church, in Harrison, Ohio, is doing well with the merger,  Of course they still have some merging and adjusting to do over the next year, but I hear all is going well.  What a blessing to see people embrace each other and be willing to make changes for the benefit of the kingdom.  Continue praying for wisdom for our pastors and unity for all.
  • Your prayers and mine were answered to all six of the below requests and the unity!  We did have some sickness in the team, but that is pretty usual and this time no one came down with malaria, dengue fever or typhoid fever which has happened on IPHC outreaches in the past.  Praise God!!
    1. Wisdom and discernment for the staff and hearing the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us in Cambodia, Thailand and possibly Myanmar or Laos.
    2. Divine appointments with those God wants to touch.
    3. Translation, translation, translation – clarity here and understanding of concepts that are not common in their culture.
    4. Safety and protection for all
    5. That we would use wisdom as we give out meds and to know when something is beyond our skills and knowledge.
    6. Against any kind of sickness in the team or severe culture shock.

For love and UNITY within our own group -especially as we add translators and coordinators to it!!!!  This is awfully important.

  • New update May 2008:  Leanna is healed completely!   Leanna's situation is much better -- she still is in recovery mode, but the outlook is very positive and the clot is dissolving with time with little pain!  ------My friend and fellow YWAMer, Leanna V., had been diagnosed with a deep vein thrombosis in one of her legs and a more shallow one in the other --- will see a specialist next week.  This happened back in April and although they both seem to have dissolved, the recovery is painful and physically limiting.  Please pray for her to recover swiftly with little pain and for NO recurrences.
