Dear Family and Friends, Much has transpired since our last contribution to this website. The end of 2003 we made our final international journeys, and due to health challenges, turned our attention to how we could serve the Lord from our home in a retirement center in Indiana. Actually, although we traveled far and wide, the Franklin United Methodist Community has been our anchor for the past 10 years, and it would take a while to describe all of the benefits we experience in this wonderful place where loving relationships and near endless opportunities abound. We are so blessed to be here. We are also enjoying Church life at Grace UMC, where so far we both sing in the choir, participate in an exciting Sunday School class, and teach Spanish to folks who want to learn to communicate with their new neighbors. Early in 2006 we completed a final edition of the four volumes (Growing in Marital Love, Vols. I and II and Growing in Our Inerpersonal Relations, Vols. I and II, put them on CDs,l and sent them to some 160 instructors around the world. We are so grateful and proud of these couples who are on the front lines, carrying the workshops to new nations and cultures, far beyond anything we dared dream, with additional translations and skills given them by God. Please pray with us that they may reach the ends of the earth. We are fully convinced of the importance of this work in which you and we are involved. When human relations and families disintegrate, all of society disintegrates. When human relations and families are healthy and integral, only then is there truly hope for the world. Christ's teachings are the foundation of all. If you are not already a part of this movement, we cordially invite you to join!!! In December of last year our children helped us celebrate 60 years of marriage! It was an unforgettable time for us, more than we could have dreamed. Tim and Grace came from St. Louis, Laura, grand daughter Angela, and our newest great granddaughter Iona Rose from Portland, OR, Beth from Grand Rapids, MI. David and Christine were not able to come from Hawaii, as Christine was ill. But the joy they shared as siblings and family was the very best, and many lovely things occured a a result of that time together. The Parkinsons' Disease which obliged us to stop traveling is taking its toll on Keith's health. Nevertheless, the halls of our FUMC echo with his singing, whistling, and laughter, as all who know him might expect. As for Marilynn, May 2 she suffered a major stroke, from which she has been recuperating in record time --close to miraculously -- as many of our friends around the world have prayed for her. As a result of these factors, June 12 we moved from our cottage into a three room apartment at Wesley Center where we are spoiled with good meals, all kinds of care, and opportunities to live a healthy life. We are superbly blessed. Any letter would be incomplete without exalting those of you who are doing noble work in the multiplication of workshops. We cannot close without mentioning the remarkable team of instructors who never stop carrying the workshops to new nations and cultures of Europe. And then we have those who are working to complete the long dreamed of Family Enrichment Workshop. Moreover, there are those of you who work quietly and touch couples and singles of every continent and the islands of the seas to transform them forever! Those whose lives you touch will rise up and bless you on the final day. Do share your struggles and victories with us! AUGUST, 2009 -- By God's grace we have just completed another edition of the books!!! They are here for you to download............. God is incredibly good, and how we pray that everyone might know Him! We are especially thankful for new life and new opportunities that each day brings. We hold you (our extended family and you whom we have never met) in our strong prayers, that you might experience our Lord's presence powerfully in your lives and know the exhilaration of service in His Kingdom.
