How it all started.....

Sepia-tinted couple

Mark was born in Horsham, Victoria, Australia, but lived most of his life in the UK.  At the age of 18 he did his DTS in Melbourne.  When he returned from outreach, he joined a team which would be pioneering a base in Sabah.  In their search for a language teacher to learn the local language, they came up with an 18 year old Malaysian student, Tammy, who spent the next couple of months tutoring them.  After two years of intermittent correspondence by mail, we met up again in Melbourne when Mark returned to attend a close friend's wedding.  With a little push from a friend, we were sent out for a long walk on our own and during the course of conversation found many things in common which got us both thinking,... and praying!

When we met again a year later, a long-distance relationship began, with Mark in East Malaysia and Tammy in West Malaysia.  Wedding bells rang in January 1995, after which we returned to the UK, where Bethany Faith made her appearance in April 1996.  Feeling called back to Sabah, East Malaysia, we then left in 1999 in obedience to that call, and Tammy did her DTS soon after that in Melbourne.  Since re-opening the work here in Sabah, we have been blessed with many visitors and teams, and also a more permanent visitor in the form of our son, David Aaron, who arrived on the 27th of December, 2000.
