November 2005 newsletter
Rottier News November 7, 2005 Dear Friends, NAMES What’s in a name? Often a lot of thought is put into giving children meaningful names. Dean Sherman (a leader in our mission) spoke at our base a few weeks ago reminding us why our mission’s name is Youth With A Mission despite being multi-generational. YOUTH is not only about age, it represents our call to walk in complete dependence upon the Lord for everything; guidance, provision, & protection. MISSION is about reaching out. We are called to be a mobile arm of the body of Christ whose purpose is to ‘go’ to all the ends of the earth. PARADE OF FLAGS A few weeks ago, Mia carried the Dutch flag for our ‘parade of flags’ as we welcomed in 110 students, with 41 internationals! We have students from obscure places like Myanmar (former Burma) and Cameroon (in central Africa). We always marvel who God directs to our base for further training so that they can be more effective as ambassadors for the Kingdom! THAI SEMINAR RESCEDULED Thailand’s first Community Development seminar that Arnold is heading up has been postponed till next summer. This timing seems to work better for the base in Chiang Rai. Many of the staff in Arnold’s department are overseas at the moment. It’s a good thing, but a reminder that we need to add more people to our team on this side for the next Foundations in Community Development (FCD) School. The spring FCD students have successfully completed their outreaches in South Africa & Mexico and have returned to their nations. They will be working in areas of community development. What a privilege to have had a small part in their lives as we serve the Ultimate Transformer – Jesus! TWO HIGH SCHOOLERS Once again we are back in our school routine with two in High School in Kalispell. Its hard to believe! Nathan our oldest is 15 and is about ready to get his driver’s license. (Montana legal driving age is 15!) Of course Daniella at 14 will be there soon. We are praying for a reliable, gas efficient 2nd vehicle. HOSPITALITY SEMINAR Debbie is catching her breath after 2 months of goodbyes to 5 of her dearest friends here. They have all relocated to new YWAM works. She is however looking forward to the Hospitality seminar that she is having at the base in February for 10 days for YWAMers from all over! Check out the details at www.ywammt.org.
YWAM has been our life for many years now - Debbie 24 years, Arnold 20 years & our kid’s entire life - and we intend to stay in this for many more. We know God has called us to disciple and train people from the nations. We truly are grateful for all of you who stand with us in missions through your encouragement, love, support and /or prayers. All our love and blessings, Arnold, Debbie Nathan, Daniella, & Mia
