Getting Involved
There are many ways you can get involved in ALL of our program and ministries. Below are listed several ideas of different way you and/or your church might get involved with the ministry of YWAM Urban Ministries Winnipeg. Check it out! Mission Adventures Our most vibrant ministry is our Mission Adventures program, creating the backbone of ministry here in Winnipeg. Being both a tool to disciple and train people, as well as serving local churches and ministries throughout the city, Mission Adventures also offers a broad spectrum of opportunities to be involved. Some way are as follows: -Bring A Team. With intensive and tailor made outreaches to suit your team, participant in the Mission Adventures program will equip and challenge you to a deeper level of commitment to service and ministry in every context of life. (See the Mission Adventures Manual for more details). -Be Summer Staff. During the summer, Mission Adventures goes even further with more training, team building and urban mission opportunities. You can help disciple young people, lead outreaches and so much more. Have your life changed as you help others change theirs! (18 years+) -Host Teams. Every Mission Adventure team stays in local church in Winnipeg during their outreach with YWAM. That means we need churches with available space to let our teams meet, eat and sleep. Your church can help reach Winnipeg by hosting such teams! -And much, much more. Contact us for more ways you can be involved. For more information, go to our Mission Adventures page. Discipleship Training School (DTS) There are many ways to connect with our Discipleship Training School (DTS). Dynamic relationships, foundational discipleship and practical mission experience are all components of this 5 month program. You can be involved too: -Become a Student. This full time, 5 month commitment is one you will never regret. Whether returning to missions or not, this program will prepare you to live a purposeful and passionate life in service to God in every way. -Join DTS Staff. If you've already completed a DTS, you could join our DTS staff. If you have a heart for discipling others and international missions, this might be just the thing for you. Let us know! -Adopt A Student/Staff. As our DTS students & YWAM staff come from all over the world, sometimes they have a hard time fitting in. Maybe your church or family could adopt one of the students to bring to church or home for a weekend meal. Be a family to someone who is away from their own. Support Missions Youth With A Mission (YWAM) International has tens of thousands of staff worldwide doing ministry of every sort on every continent. And no one staff person within the mission receives a wage. Each person, from the Founder to the Janitor is required to raise their own team of prayer and financial support. This allows a more intimate connection between the missionary and the donor, as well as saving on the administrative costs of paying wages. We would like to invite you to prayerfully consider being involved in supporting the ministry of Youth With A Mission here in Winnipeg. More than anything else, we need a solid team of believers supporting us with their prayers. In the midst of the responsibilities of missions, knowing that there are people thinking, caring and praying makes it easier to face the challenges. In addition to prayer, there are many other ways in which you can help support our ministry. From small things, like a kind email every so often to a plate of cookies to volunteering with one of our ministries, creative ways of support can sometimes be the most meaningful gesture we could receive. Be creative! A little goes a long way. YWAM also needs regular financial support. Almost all of our funding for programs and ministries come from YWAM staff and the small amount of money the programs may generate. In order to grow and develop as a ministry, we need to strengthen our financial support base regularly. You can be a partner in the ministry here in Winnipeg and abroad with your support. We are continually blessed and humbled by the generosity of people and churches who believe in what we do. You can help support YWAM financial through one time gifts to YWAM Urban Ministries Winnipeg, regular collections dedicated to our ministry, or through needed regular monthly support. In addition, you could consider those same options for individual missionaries on YWAM staff.
