Antipolo Training Center History

After moving our Discipleship Training School several times in the 1980's, the DTS leadership of the school sought the Lord concerning a property of our own that would serve for training. This would also be the first property that YWAM Philippines would purchase anywhere in the country.

Mike Broderick, Princess Misa (Nee Paz), Wanda Taft, Alfred Baltazar, Paul and Lynn Ainsworth with the help of the Christian realtor began praying and viewing available properties. Finally, they decided to go to No. 7 Francisville Subdivision in Antipolo.

It is a house located on top of the hill overlooking the city of Manila. The property had been foreclosed by a bank and was available for 3 million pesos, payable by a deposit of 1 million pesos and the balance payable monthly over 10 years at 27% interest.

As the National Council prayed with Mike about the purchase, everyone felt the Lord's confirmation to proceed, and subsequently felt that we, all the staff of YWAM Philippines, should make personal offerings and pledge commitments to enable us to raise the deposit of 1 million pesos. The Lord moved upon our hearts that the amount was almost raised. A second round of pledges brought us even near to our target and was added to by some generous gifts from friends and YWAM bases overseas.

Mike signed the contract with the bank and we moved in June 1990. In the first year, the base leadership recognized the need to expand the capacity of the property so that more staff and students could be accommodated.

Friends from Faroe Island communicated that a team of men were prepared to come and help in the building of additional facilities which finally resulted in the addition of two story staff housing. We are grateful to those who gave to help in the project.

Later in 1990, the first DTS was held in the building with Mike and Marney Broderick leading it.

After Mike and Marney Broderick returned to the US in 1992 the property was refinanced by the BPI to put our interest on a floating rate which reduced it to 21% at that time, as well as continuing DTS's in 1993.

The Introduction to Biblical Counseling was also conducted, and later several Crossroads DTS's, a Personnel Development School and a School of Biblical Studies. The vision of the property to be a training and equipping center continues to be realized. Before departing in 1996, Larry Baldock drew up plans for the further expansion of the facilities in a 4-stage construction project.
In 1999, the School of Worship was birthed in the Center and numerous Discipleship Training Weeks followed afterwards. In 2003, the Antipolo Training Center had it's first School of Missions and Evangelism (SOME). The Introduction to Biblical COunseling (IBC) re-starting in October 2004. Our Mortgage is now paid! We are debt free aside from some Re-Construction we are doing on our rooms and dorms. Praise the Lord!
