Baby Malia

Finally our beautiful baby is here. Malia Lynnette was born January 18th. She is a big 9 pounds and 6 ounces. The delivery was long but problem free and Erin is doing very well. Malia was born with a rash of red spots all over here body (as you can probably see). This rash has yet to be diagnosed, so they had to transfer her to another hospital the next day. We did get to spend half of the first night with her in our room.

She is currently at a new hospital in their Newborn Special Care Unit, until they can figure out what this rash is. We can visit her anytime day or night but we can't sleep in the room with her. She is being kept in a private room where we have to put on gowns, gloves and face masks before entering, but we are allowed to hold her and pick her up.

Please pray that the rash is completely healed or diagnosed as harmless and we can bring her home! Thank you already for all your prayers and love for us. We have been offered so much help and it is VERY appreciated.

Christmas Update
This year has gone by so quickly. David took a sabbatical for the first five months, and then resumed work as Director of Administration. He was also able to take a two week teaching trip to Fiji where he spoke at two different YWAM bases. Shortly after this David was asked to take on a new role as YWAM Honolulu’s Assistant Base Director.

Erin has worked the year as Danny Lehmann’s assistant in Danny’s first year as International Dean of the College of Christian Ministries for YWAM’s University of the Nations. It was a busy year for Danny and therefore for Erin as well.

Of course the biggest blessing this year was Erin’s pregnancy. The baby is due January 14th, and we are getting very excited for his or her arrival. Erin will take a two month break from her job with Danny and then start up again as much as she can.
Thank you all so much for your prayers and support this year. We are so blessed by all of you and your part in what we do.

In January Raquel Brace our current DTS Director, and a team of our staff, will be leaving YWAM Honolulu to pioneer a new YWAM base on the island of Kauai. That leaves Honolulu without a DTS Director.
In Raquel’s place we have formulated a team to oversee and run the DTS until a new director is found. David is leading this team. We have our schedule and staff pretty much set for January school and will start preparations for April school.
Please pray for us as we take on the leadership of this team and for God’s blessing on our DTS program.
We are also praying about going on some kind of outreach somewhere next year. We are still seeking the Lord and asking for details as it would be our first outreach with a baby. We don’t have any guidance yet but will keep everyone posted.

Have a wonderful Christmas season!

New Jobs
October 9, 2009
As some of you have heard David has been commissioned as YWAM Honolulu's Assistant Base Director. This means that whenever our Base Director - Mike Heath - is away, David will be in charge.

But some of you have not heard about the other role both of us have taken on just recently. YWAM Honolulu's current DTS Director - Raquel Brace - is heading up a team that is going to pioneer a YWAM base on the island of Kauai at the beginning of next year. So what happens to our DTS?

We have been chosen to form and lead a team that will facilitate the January and April DTS's on our base. It is a huge responsibility and a lot of work; but we have excellent people here to work with. Please pray that the Holy Spirit leads us, and the team to see the DTS run well and that everything gets covered well, especially since our baby is due in January the same day the January DTS is scheduled to begin.
