Mission Outreach Proposal
1. Background of the Outreach: 1) In June 2009, Michael Gray and David Chung, under the coordination of NGA, went to Gisenyi, Rwanda to have a conference with the local Rwandan pastors in preparation for a citywide evangelistic festival in 2010. After a long talk, the Rwandan pastors and the two evangelists (Gray and Chung) came to the conclusion that a series of professional ministerial training sessions would more effectively meet the pastors’ practical needs than holding another outreach event such as a festival. 2) Islam has rapidly grown in Gisenyi because, during and after the Genocide, the Muslims have shown compassion to the suffering people by meeting their physical needs. As the pastors explained how strong the Islamic influence had become in Gisenyi, Gray and Chung mutually saw the spirit of defeat in the eyes of the pastors. Consequently, the local pastors think they lack resources, both human and spiritual, to counter the Islamic influence on their city. 2. Invitation to Cooperation 1) Michael Gray and David Chung extend an invitation to other NGA evangelists and Christians of the world to cooperate with them in partnering with the churches and church leaders of Gisenyi, Rwanda to revive and strengthen the churches in their area. 2) Michael Gray and David Chung also ask the NGA office to recommend a point person in Rwanda who will work as coordinator of this outreach in terms of communication, preparation and translation. 3.
