* When was the last time you were a student in a YWAM training school?
* Rather than just taking a trip home and speaking in all those churches and meeting with all your supporters how about receiving some leadership input!
* How about enjoying 6 weeks of inspiration and interaction with other leaders?

What is the LDC?
The leadership development course is 6 weeks of teaching input, discussion in class and mentoring groups, modelling, practical application and prayer into relational leadership. Its all about you as a leader developing yourself and then others on your team. Its about accomplishing the task but building the people on our teams in the process. Or as Ephesians 4 puts it, "equipping the saints for the work of ministry."

Who is the course for?
Are you moving through transitions without difficulty? Are you understanding keys to deal with any plateauing in your life? Are you clear about your future ministry? Are you aware of your strengths, gifts and weaknesses? Do you feel you are needing a fresh passion and new creativity in your leadership? Does your leadership have an emphasis on developing people? Are you really investing in potential leaders on your base or team? Do you have mentoring relationships at this time? If you answered No to any of these questions, then you probably qualify!

The course has been planned for base, national or ministry leaders, or people with similar experience in leadership. We are generally looking for those who have had 4-5 years of leadership experience.

Why attend an LDC?
* Get time away from your present responsibilities to seek God
* Understand your gifting and calling for a clarity of focus
* Gain a knowledge of your phase of growth as a leader
* Learn specific skills in leadership and mentoring
* Have team leadership and participatory leadership style modelled
* Enjoy an environment for special encounters with God

When and where is the next course?
The next LDC will run from April  - June  and will be held at YWAM Scotland's Seamill Centre on the west coast. Its a beautiful spot for rest and restoration as well as a wonderful peaceful setting for training.
Take a look right now!

What's the bottom line?
Just the richness of fellowship, walks along the beach to take in the Scottish fresh air and 6 weeks away from it all is worth the money but we throw in good food and accommodation, a dynamic leadership team and great teaching input and ministry. How can you resist? Just £780 for the 6 weeks!

What are the key themes?
Subjects and basic skills to be learned will include:

* Understanding your gifts and calling as a leader
* Practical mentoring - Jesus Style
* Leadership formation and the stages of growth of a leaders life
* Human development phases to bring understanding to you personally and for your team members in how we should develop properly and how we can deal with disfunction
* Developing your personal mission statement and ministry philosophy
* Small group dynamics
* Different aspects of Spiritual leadership
* Team building and leadership team development
* Leadership styles with an emphasis on coaching
* Character and spiritual disciplines of the leader
* Conflict resolution and loving confrontation
* Dealing with transition

Helpful books
It will be helpful if you are able to read "THE MAKING OF A LEADER" by Robert Clinton of Fuller seminary before coming to the LDC. Through his study of the lives of several hundred leaders, Clinton has identified specific stages and processes that God regularly uses in the development of a leader. We will be spending some time developing our time line and understanding the processes God has taken us through, so some prior reading will help.

Another book that will be helpful is "Connecting" by Paul Stanley which shares on the various styles of mentoring. He broadens the mentoring process out and shows how we can have specific gifting and specific input into one another, thus getting away from the "spiritual guru model" of mentoring.

Assignments
Through the assignments and projects given in the course you will develop tools to give you a clearer perspective of your future ministry as well as tools to help you develop the people you called to lead.
