History, Vision and Goals of the Light to the Nations School. We in Youth With A Mission (YWAM) have been called to an educational work in all nations as part of the Great Commission. This was given by our Lord Jesus in Matthew 28:19-20 saying: make disciples of all nations, “and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I will be with you always, to the very end of the age.” The idea of a Christian school was born out of the desire that God put in the hearts of various Colombian missionaries to see little children come to know Him, His son, His Word and His creation. That they would learn to live an upright life in accord with the moral principals of Christianity and at the same time develop their intellectual, emotional and motor skills; fulfilling the requirements of the Colombian Ministry of Education. After various years of prayer, waiting and looking to see the realization of this desire, in 1984 God began calling people called and equipped for this work and beginning with a pre-school. In the following years we developed the primary and secondary levels, graduating our first high school class in 1997. Our Vision To raise up new generations of Colombian children and young people to be leaders in the 21st century; raising the standard of Christianity in every area of our society. Our goal is to form the character, consciousness and the manner of each student in accordance with God’s confirmed will. We want to give the student, through the curriculum, a Biblical worldview in all subjects. We hope to restore the national sense of responsibility, true peace and liberty. We do this through Christian education that has a divine beginning and end, knowing that we count with the presence of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in the midst of this work. We are sure that the Lord has called us to serve the Christian families of Colombia in their job of discipling the nation for Him. We believe that the Lord is preparing new generations of Colombian Christians that He will raise up as leaders of the 21st Century. As Christians we set the standard in every area of society and we are the answer and hope of our nation. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is applicable in every area of life as individuals or as a nation. Our most profound desire is to enable our students to be the influence of justice and righteousness that the whole world needs. “You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me. (21) “the people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise.” Isaiah 43:10&21. Our Mission Integral training of the spirit, soul and body of the new generations of Colombians. The goal is that each life would to bring happiness to the heart of God and become an influence in Christian values; responding to the social needs of their community. Our Educational Philosophy “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid which is Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 3:11 The philosophy of the Light to the Nations School rests in the understanding that God is sovereign. Christ has pre-eminence in all and the Holy Spirit is the guide and revelation in the lives’ of the teachers and students in the curriculum and educational methodology.
