From Colombia With Love!
Dear Friends,
It is amazing what God can do with a crazy idea! As we shared last time, in August of this year we were privileged to host an outreach team from Kingsville Community Church, led by Pastors Chris & Christine Martin.
During this outreach many of the team members commented on the tremendous passion that the Latino Church has for Evangelism, Prayer & Worship and how wonderful it would be to instill that passion in the Canadian Church.

is one potential team member.
Those comments led to a lot of prayer and seeking God. In the last 35 years the Colombia Church has grown from .03% to more than 12 % of the population; while in Canada I am told the percentage of born again believers is currently less than 5%.
During a visit home in September, I spoke with several Pastors from the London, Leamington and Windsor area in order to gage the interest in receiving an outreach team from Bogota. Each one expressed their interest. The last step was to pass all of this by our Senior Pastor in Bogota and our YWAM base director. They were also was thrilled by the idea. The result?
From Colombia With Love
- an outreach from Colombia to Canada
June 12th to July 18th 2007.
Through testimonies, worship, drama and the sharing of the Word by Colombian ministry leaders, this outreach will be focussing on three main areas:
1. The English Speaking Church - Our goal is to encourage the church to go deeper with God and reach out in the power that He has for them. We also want to share what God has done with the church and its ministries in Colombia.
2. The Latino Church - Many times inwardly focussed (on other Latinos) and most of the time missing their own countries (even as they enjoy the tranquillity of Canadian life); we want to encourage the Latino Church to open up and reach out. Each culture has its special anointing from God and Canada needs Latino Passion!
3. Migrant Farm Workers from Latin America - In southern Ontario there are thousands of workers who arrive each year from Central America to work on area farms. We want to reach out to them, show them the love of Christ and encourage them to take it back to their own countries.
All of this will take great effort from a lot of people and yes, we are more than a little worried about how it will all come together, but man is it exciting!
The group will consist of approx. 15 young adults and leaders from the local church and YWAM.
Auxy, from Seed of Eternal Life, is also a potencial team member.
Please be praying for:
- Darren & Joshua Reyes (the Philadelphia Church Youth Pastor) who are organizing the outreach; for wisdom as we organize and select the team members.
- the team as members start to raise the needed funds for their Canadian Visa and plane tickets. The trip will be a great faith challenge for each person.
- the ministry training. Missions Prep begins in January.
From The Diaper Bag
We suspect that Darien has a bit of a stubborn streak. This particular day he was in his crib for quite some time, refusing to sleep, before we found him like this!
James and Darien are well. James has just finished pre-kindergarten and now will be home schooled until August when he starts his new school studying in English. It is a great blessing to have a missionary school for him and we are believing God to provide for his fees.
Darien is growing, but continues to be a little under weight for his height. At the ripe old age of 13 months, he is walking supported by whatever he can find, but he is still not ready to freelance.
Patty is good, good and ready to get back to work and out of the house! We are praying about where she will be plugging into the ministry next year.
In the last year, while she has been helping me in some things, her main focus has been on Darien. Now, she would like to get back, at least half-time, to teaching. The first step may be for her to help prepare the Colombian outreach team. Please pray for God to open our eyes to the place that He has for her and His timing to make the transition.

Although we had hoped to be in Canada this Christmas God seemed to be saying no. So, we will be spraying the windows with artificial snow this year, thinking about friends far and wide and praying that all will have the most blessed Christmas ever.
