Our story  

We are Youth With A Mission missionaries who are on staff with a ministry called Living Alternatives, and here's our story...

• The USA has the highest teenage pregnancy rate of all developed countries, though the rate has decreases the last few years.
• About 1 million teenagers become pregnant each year:  95% of those pregnancies are unintended, and almost 1/3 end in abortions.
• One of every 3 girls has had sex by age 16, 2 out of 3 by age 18.
• Two of 3 boys have had sex by age 18.
• Four in 10 young women become pregnant at least once before they reach the age of 20 - nearly one million a year.
• Eight in ten of these pregnancies are unintended and 79% are to unmarried teens.
• 70% of girls who get pregnant in High School drop out and don't graduate

A teenage girl gets pregnant. Without options, what is she going to do, ............ get and abortion? Heaven prevent! Our hearts are broken for these girls, their babies, the fathers, and the girls’ parents. We know God has a loving answer and we are going to be apart of a loving alternative solution. Both Heather and I, with our two children, have been given a vision to work with Living Alternatives, "http://www.livalt.org" a Youth With A Mission (YWAM) ministry to pregnant teenagers. We want to bring hope and healing to girls facing an unplanned pregnancy. This is a 3-fold ministry that caters to a crisis pregnancy center, an adoption agency, and a maternity home. For almost five years we have been serving out at Fatherheart, the maternity home, where up to 18 pregnant girls live. One of the goals at Fatherheart is to rebuild lives through education, training, counseling, and sharing Jesus in practical ways. Living Alternatives works with everyone involved in the girls life including parents and the father – everyone needs to be a part of the solution. The girls are going to make choices. We just hope those choices will be from a biblical perspective. Our hearts are aching to make a difference in the lives of these girls, and to hopefully turn a generation toward a loving God and away from the cruelty of abortion. We believe that part of our ministry is going to be living out what a marriage, committed to Jesus, looks like. So many of the girls come from a single parent home, and now we are seeing a second generation of girls who will be parenting alone. Some of them don’t even know any married couples. We are thankful for the training we have received at School of the Bible, and the Discipleship and Evangelism schools with Youth With A Mission.  We can finally encourage, mentor and counsel the girls at FatherHeart from a firm biblical foundation, instead of just “friendly advice”.
