More about the sbsdlc...

___________________________________

The course consists of 11 modules which cover each of the 66 books of the Bible. There are five modules covering the New Testament and six modules for the Old Testament. The first module covers the 'seminar phase' teaching you the inductive Bible study approach using Philemon, Galatians, Titus, Mark and Acts. The course involves disciplined self-study of the Bible. Students are trained in observation of what the text actually says. They are taught the principles of interpretation, considering historical and linguistic background information, to discern what the text meant to the original readers, and from this to draw application, what the text means to us today, both individually and corporately.

Using these three steps, the Bible will be read up to five times, outlined and charted. These charts, which are paragraph by paragraph breakdowns of each book, become valuable aids in future study, teaching and preaching. The student will also have the opportunity to become proficient at using tools such as concordances, word studies and Bible dictionaries. The material you will receive will be the step by step manual/syllabus. You will need to provide your own Bible, we suggest you use an unmarked New Revised Standard Version (NRSV). You will also need a text book, and two resource books. See page on obtaining course books.

Each student will be linked with a Distance Tutor via email, phone, fax or mail, who will be available to assist you with your studies, answer questions and check the work when it is completed. The tutor will be a valuable 'asset' in the whole learning process.

There is a time limit for each module. Module one is nine months, the other modules are six months. If you need more time, you can re-register for the fee of £30 for a further six months.

The cost of each module is scaled according to your nationality. Please see the financial information page.

For those enrolled in one of YWAM's University of the Nations degree courses, please note we are unable to offer credit for the sbsdlc.
