Mony
My name is Ek Chendamony, or Mony is what people call me. I was born in a non-Christian family who lives in the countryside of Kampong Thom province. My father was a soldier and my mother a seller. I have 2 brothers and a sister. I am the second child and was born in 1981. My older brother is 26 my younger 22 and my younger sister is 18. In 1989 my father passed away because of the war. My mother had to act both as a mother and a father. She worked hard to earn the money to feed us and to support our studies. In 1999 I finished high school in the province. Then my mother sent me to continue my studies in Phnom Penh at the University. For the four years I studied at the University I lived with my uncle and aunt. In 2003, the year when I was going to graduate, my older brother who was the first one who gave his life to Jesus came to me and told me about Jesus and the salvation. During that time it stirred up a lot of things when he told about Jesus. Sometimes I cried and had fights talking with him. Several months later, God opened my heart to receive what he was sharing and I could more clearly understand the love of Jesus and my brother’s own testimony. So I started to think about my life how life was without Jesus. I saw that it was a life full of hopelessness, unclear directions, a life full of sins and I could see all I did was to satisfy people in order for them to value me. So I started to attend church and already the first time I came to church I accepted Jesus Christ as my savior. It was the 28th of September 2003. Now I have a new life, a life filled with hope, joy and clearer directions. Before I lead my own life but now Jesus is the one who leads me and guides me. Thank God that my whole family now believes in Jesus and most of us are serving the Lord in a full time ministry.
