Rady Huch ( Cambodia )

I am from the Kompong Thom province, in central Cambodia. I have six siblings; one older sister, two younger brothers and three younger sisters. I was born in 1980. My parents are Buddhists and works as farmers.

In 1999 I graduated from high school so I went to Phnom Penh to pursue my studies. But I failed in my exam, so I had to look for work. i found one in a garment factory. My goal to go to Phnom Penh was to get a good education but instead I had to work all day long from 7 am until 9 or 10 pm. I was very lonely, felt hopelessness, selfpity, shame and that I was a failure. I had always wanted a good education, so I questioned myself: "Why am I different from others? Why can't I just study as many others?" I tried to get away from my friends, I couldn't focus on anything. I had no focus and no hope. I started to drink wine and went out with my friends every night. My life just got worse and worse. I had a lot of destructive thoghts that I am a nobody, worthless and I started to hate myself. I quit my job and decided that it's better that I die. I could face myself or life anymore. During this time I was thinking about what way I would kill myself. But then in the middle of those thoughts I saw a piece of paper that said: "Who volunteer to give up one eye to a blind man? You will get paid." I decided to see how much money they would give and maybe this could help to continue to study at the University.

On Sunday morning I arrived to the place. I saw one blind man but there were many other people there on that day. One man came and entered the stage. He preached the message about the verse: "Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." I was touched, crying inside my heart. That was the most touching message I had ever heard. On that day I accepted the fact that I have value and that education is not the meaning of life. I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior the year 2000. My whole family became Christian in 2005. My desire is to share the kind of hope God has given me to other people.

In 2003 I took DTS (or YLT as it is named here in Cambodia). In his mercy God called me

I now work full time with discipleship. I work as a staff in the DTS and I will stay here longterm. I love mission and I love to go and share the message of Jesus Christ to remote areas too.

May the Lord bless you

Rady
