Fall 2009--Welcome!

Waddells in Sept 2009

Hello Family & Friends,

What wonderful things the Lord is doing in the earth, and we shout for Joy at the work of His hands!

Shout for Joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God! PS. 100: 1-3

Thank you for your love, support, and encouragement to our family. We see God’s daily faithfulness, goodness, and attentiveness in our lives. We pray the Lord’s blessings over you, and we want to take this opportunity to share with you a snapshot of the past few months.

Fiji Water Seminar

Bob, Pastor & Jeff

Fiji Water Seminar—This past May, my Dad (Bob) and I traveled to the beautiful island of Fiji to work with the Fijians teaching them how to construct rain-water catchment tanks as well as sand filters for drinking water. Our time there was very good, and we were able to equip 36 people with these simple and life-giving techniques. At the end of the first week there, we took a four hour boat ride to an island community that is in the far north end of the Fijian Yasawa island chain. There we worked with a church that was wanting to install catchment tanks so their church could be a resource to the community. Together we built a tank with men that had learned the techniques during the seminar on the main island, and the tank looks great! I have since been invited to another part of the island for another seminar—would anyone like to join me?

In Water for Life news, we have team members working full time in Rwanda with the goal of training teams to build 2000 tanks in and around the capital city of Kigali for all the public schools. We also have a team preparing a comprehensive plan for water development in Kosovo which is an ongoing project for us. For me personally, in January I am traveling to Cambodia to train local Cambodians in water filtration and purification techniques. I am still needing about $1500 for this trip. Reisa is also praying about going along with me. She has a heart for Cambodia and a few weeks ago at bedtime was crying and explained to us that she was missing Cambodia. She has a sensitive heart towards the Father.

Family Stuff

Hanna & Friends:)

Family Life—Our three girls attend the International Christian School (ICS) (our campus’ cooperative home school for staff families) and are fully enjoying it. They are now in 8th, 5th and 2nd grades! This year, one of the content themes is ancient history which includes the study of archeology. Hanna’s class was able to travel to our neighboring island, Oahu, to visit museums and talk with some archeologists regarding their area of study. In her class are students from Korea, Switzerland, Germany, New Zealand and the United States. (Hanna is pictured 3rd from right)

Hanna—13, is growing into a young lady and is enjoying being on the local swim team.
Reisa—10, enjoys friends and is into playing piano, climbing trees and reading the Boxcar Children book series.
Zarah—7, is learning to read and is quite curious about how things work just like Grandpa Bob.
Melissa and I find great fulfillment in loving and growing up our children together.

Discipleship Training School

Compassion DTS

Equipping Young People—This crew in the photo to the right is the Discipleship Training school that we are working with. We find enjoyment in getting to know and disciple these young men and women that have a hunger to walk in truth and live their lives fully for Him. Our students will travel at Christmas on 3-5 month outreaches to Cambodia, Rwanda, Turkey, Mozambique, Russia, Colombia, & South Africa. They will be serving alongside local mercy ministries in these countries looking, talking & smelling like Jesus! Thank you for praying!!!

What is DTS?
Discipleship Training Schools aim to form Christian character and establish Biblical relationships while developing a daily walk with God. This intensive training course begins with a 12 week classroom phase followed by a 12+ week outreach. In the course the students will also identify their unique individual gifts and callings in God. Cross-cultural exposure and global awareness are special emphases throughout the course, preparing the students to reach current and future generations to answer the call to "Go into all the world and make disciples of all nations" Matthew 28:19.
