Belmont and Clark is the intersection of one of the most infamous “alternative” districts in Chicago. Ruth Troyer has worked in this neighborhood for 5 years and it’s where she met John Stockman, who had also lived and worked in the same neighborhood for 7 years. John went on to train with YWAM Denver, met and married Amanda. The Stockmans moved back to Chicago and joined our YWAM staff. We all met up and talked about our vision for the neighborhood. It was then that we realized that our neighborhood needed a tangible presence of the kingdom of God. We realized that the need for community was great, so we decided to make this vision a reality. Acts 2:42-47 tells us about the formation of the early church and at their core was community. We seek to be a community that reflects the values of the church in Acts. We feel called to be missional in our actions, incarnational in our neighborhood, and intentional in our relationships. We want to model the Kingdom of God with hospitality, the arts, relational discipleship, in our work, and through taking up the cross in issues of social/environmental justice and stewardship. Our prayer is that through living out the Gospel holistically, the Holy Spirit will bring transformation to our neighborhood and city. Our Blog
