OUR VISION We envision a live-learn COMMUNITY to disciple young people for missions and life-calling, to work with the local Body of Christ, and mobilize workers to obey Jesus' commission to share the Gospel locally and in the unreached areas of the world.
1) COMMUNITY A place where discipleship is caught informally through a live-learn environment, community setting, intentionally living out and imparting core values of the mission: • Worship • Intercession • Fellowship • Hospitality • Outreach & practical service
2) TRAINING/ DISCIPLESHIP At YWAM Ozarks you will find a place where discipleship takes place non-formally and through a variety of training courses we have offered and will be offering.
• DTS - Discipleship Training Schools - Essentials of discipleship and following Jesus.
• SBS - School of Biblical Studies The study of God's Word, transformation of its application, and learning to teach others, according to the principle of 2 Timothy 2:2.
• CRS - Children at Risk School Raising awareness, giving basic skills, and mobilizing workers to reach at-risk children.
• BBS - Battle of Beliefs School Exploring the prevailing worldview philosophies and comparing with a biblical worldview; training in critical thinking.
• Seminars - Short bite-sized training offered locally, regionally, and internationally. Early childhood curriculum seminars - Orientation to YWAM's curriculum Basic discipleship course - Twelve weekly sessions for youth groups W.A.I.T. Training - abstinence based sex education Inductive Bible study workshops - A taste of the riches of SBS Mission X-posure - Weekends for junior and senior high school groups
3) SHARING THE GOSPEL • Outreaches - Serving and reaching a lost and hurting world, whether in local communities or internationally. This is to be a priority for staff, not just students.
• Mission Adventures - Opportunity for school aged youth to commit to following Jesus, be exposed to missions in general, and share the Gospel perhaps for the first time.
• Kids Camps - Our facilities are perfect for "Camp Manitou," a great, safe get-away for churched and unchurched kids.
4) LOCAL COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT • We are committed to pursue unity with the local Church (Body of Christ), and have begun to establish friendships with many area pastors and spiritual leaders. Visiting teams offer practical help, not just on our campus, but in the community. Our staff will have ongoing involvement in local churches of their choice, and people from various churches are welcome to our campus for public meetings and events. We look for ways to link individuals within local churches to short-term outreach opportunities.
• "Seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you," Jer. 29:7. We continually pray for God's blessing on Ozark and desire to serve the local civic community in practical ways: volunteer projects for Ozark; reaching out to single parents; mentoring youth; participating in community events.
• Retreats - As we renovate and restore our facilities, we want to offer Missions Retreats to area church groups... a place to get away with God and get a greater vision for involvement in God's Kingdom in the world.
5) WORLD MISSIONS • The majority of staff and students who have been a part of YWAM Ozarks over the past four years have gone on to further involvement in world missions. Two out of five DTS graduates are pursuing long-term work in Cambodia, the nation where they did their outreach. We envision this to continue and multiply, launching thousands into missions from this campus.
• Global Target Network (GTN) - There are over 300,000 YWAM alumni in the United States alone. GTN has been established to challenge and provide opportunities to use their gifts for world missions at a variety of levels of commitment. YWAM Ozarks seeks to be a conduit for those former YWAMers who live in this region to be able to get out on the field again, whether short or long term.
6) BIBLICAL FOUNDATIONS FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD As a campus we seek to strengthen ministries to young children and their families. To that extent, YWAM's "Biblical Foundation for Early Childhood Education" curriculum is available through YWAM Ozarks. This was developed and tested over a 20 year period, released in 1996, published in five additional languages, and has gone to 100 nations. Barb Nizza, the curriculum editor, is adjunct faculty of YWAM's University of the Nations, and is available for curriculum training seminars.
