Who We Are
YWAM Rwanda was started by Method and Mary Kamanzi, who worked previously with YWAM in Kenya. After the 1994 genocide they felt God calling them to their home nation Rwanda, where they arrived in December 1994. They started helping rebuilding the country, which was in a great mess. Dead bodies laying in the streets needed to be buried and the whole infra structure needed to be repaired. It was a hard time where many Rwandan's worked together in rebuilding the country. YWAM Rwanda is dynamic and growing! Every year, many people are trained through the DTS and other schools/seminars and many more are reached in the various ministries. From reaching out to people with HIV/Aids to training teenagers to know God, YWAM Rwanda is involved. The harvest is plentiful! Ywam Rwanda currently has one developed base in the capital, Kigali. We are developing other sites in both Bukora and Mutara. There is a natural focus on mercy ministry and children, because of the '94 civil war there are many widows and orphans in Rwanda. Among the ministries are a sponsorship program to help children go to school, and a program to help widows. You can check out more ministries we are involved in on our Ministries page. In response to the Biblical mandate to bring hope to the hopeless, and God’s love to all people, YWAM Rwanda exists to disciple and equip people from all nations to go to all nations. In partnership with, or as a catalyst to, the church, we aim to imitate and facilitate holistic development programmes, so that - The socio-economic status of the underprivileged is significantly improved.
- Positive child development and welfare is promoted
- Rwandan children are equipped, envisioned and enabled to positively impact their communities, and other nations.
