YWAM Rwanda
YWAM Rwanda is dynamic and growing! Every year many people are trained through the DTS and other schools/seminars and many more are reached in the various ministries. From reaching out to people with HIV/Aids to training teenagers to know God, YWAM Rwanda is involved. But there is much more to do! YWAM Rwanda has currently one base in the capital of Kigali, but we are looking to start a new base in the country side. The Kigali base has 50 committed YWAM staff, mostly Rwandans. There is a natural focus on mercy ministry and children, because of the '94 civil war there are many widows and orphans in Rwanda. Among the ministries are a sponsorship program to help children go to school, and a program to help widows. But there are a lot more ministries, look under ministries in the menu to get an impression what YWAM Rwanda does. YWAM Rwanda was started by Method and Mary Kamanzi, who worked previously with YWAM in Kenya. After the 1994 genocide they felt God calling them to their home nation Rwanda, where they arrived in December 1994. They started helping rebuilding the country, which was in a great mess. Dead bodies laying in the streets needed to be buried and the whole infra structure needed to be repaired. It was a hard time where many Rwandan's worked together in rebuilding the country.
