School of Communication Foundations 
 

This school is one of most important of the 3 core-cores in the University of the Nations in order to obtain a degree.

 

Goal:

The purpose of this school is to provide a Christian/Biblical view of communication and to teach speaking and writing skills for personal improvement and ministry success.  We will investigate the communication process from a biblical framework and explore a variety of effective written and verbal strategies to multiply the Christian message.

 

 

 

Course methods:

The course objectives will be met through a balance of information, discussion and application.  The following delivery systems will be used: lecture, group discussion, video, reading and written assignments, group/individual projects, demonstration, role play, creative workshops and public presentations.

 

 

Objectives:

  • To discover God’s perspective of human communication
  • To apply new study skills and
  • research techniques
  • To enhance interpersonal insight for clearer communication
  • To produce college level written reports
  • To deliver effective verbal and creative presentations to live audiences

 

Content:

  • Personal development: worship, intercessory prayer, team work, fellowship and personal conferences with school staff.
  • Communication: communication models, biblical world view, cross cultural and creative communication and different communication tools.
  • Learning skills: active listening, note taking and asking questions.
  • Interpersonal communication: non-verbal communication, active listening, gender and family communication, identifying motivation and personal styles of relating.
  • Writing skills: book review, summary report and research paper.
  • Verbal skills: oral reports question and answer sessions, introductions and informative speaking.

 

 

To attend the SCF school you must first complete the Discipleship Training School.

For Africans: 500 US Dollars. Westerners: 1’500 US Dollars.
