We are blessed to have an amazing base here in the capital, Kigali

Our base and grounds have been growing and developing since the beginning of YWAM Rwanda. We have a full training block for our schools with student accommodation alongside, an attractive office block to accommodate our ministries, hospitality rooms to welcome guests and visitors comfortably and living space for our on-base families. We have more staff rooms on the base close to our kitchen and dining hall where we enjoy our meals together as family. We are now putting the finishing touches to our main hall where we hope to host events that will benefit not only YWAM, but also the community where we live. The teacher training block is in it's final stages as we prepare for the SECE in the new year.

Surrounding our buildings are our beautiful grounds which are well looked after by our staff and Community Service. It is a blessing to have surroundings like we have, and they are particularly beautiful after rainy season when the flowers are all in bloom. You cannot help but marvel at God's creativity when you see the gardens. As well as flowers and plants, we also grow some of our own fruit and vegetables. Pineapple, Tomato, Papaya and Casava and Orange just to name a few. We hope to be growing more of our own in the future. It is very rewarding to be self sufficient in this way, knowing some of meal has come straight from the garden!

Also on the base, we have a large group of turkeys. Originally started as a pilot project on the base, we now have a breeding programme and having many successful hatches. From this, we then partner with the Widow's ministry and give one or two (a breeding pair) to one of the families for them to rear their own and benefit from it!

We use solar power here on the base, so when we have a power cut, we are not left in complete darkness! We try to be as green as possible, and use a resources in good and productive ways. This is an area we hope to keep growing in, to be good stewards of what we are given, to have a good recycling system and to respect the land and resources that the Lord has given us here in Kigali.
