YWAM has a large plot of land in Mutara, in the Eastern Province of Rwanda. Our desire is to start ministries that will bless the people of this area. In 2009 we have started the process of investigations about water supply and fundraising for drilling a borehole. It has taken a long time to get the permission to drill on a piece of government land. In 2010 we have found water about 1500m, away from our land and our next step will be to build a water storage tank, lay pipes and pump the water up to our property. We are planning to build the first buildings in 2011. Vision for YWAM Mutara Children's Village In a population of about 9 million, Rwanda has more than a million orphans and thousands of widows. Many children are living on the streets or with neighbors or relatives who don’t want or who cannot care for them. Our desire is to see vulnerable children cared for so that they may receive hope, love and security. Homes for these children will be built in clusters of six houses, forming communities for children and caregivers (widows) in a family setting. Education Pre-school The YWAM Mutara base will include a pre-school to provide quality Christian education for children living on-site and for children from the area. Vocational Training School There are many young people who have not been able to pursue a high level of academic education for different reasons. Often this means that it is difficult to find jobs to care for themselves or their families. YWAM Mutara will include a Vocational Training School (VTS) to help such youths as these. They can learn skills as sewing, carpentry or metalwork. Health Care Centre YWAM has a vision to establish a First aid- clinic to provide medical treatment for the children living in the Children’s village and for the community in which they are situated. The Health Care Center will be a place where members of the community can also receive education on different relevant health issues, including primary health care, family planning and hygiene.
