The staff

YWAM Rwanda has 48 staff members, 35 of them are Rwandan. We are a great bunch of people together that love the Lord and work together as brothers and sisters. We are blessed to have so many local staff that want to reach and change there nation. We are equally blessed to have many foreigners who felt God leading them to work in Rwanda. We need each other to be most effective in sharing God's love to the world. Coming from different cultures we complement each other in being the body of Christ. Some of our staff are currently being trained in different bases around the world.

All the staff working with YWAM live by faith. We need to trust God to provide for our support or income. Often times support comes from friends, family and churches, who in this way are closely involved in the specific mission the YWAM staff member is working in.

For Rwandan staff this is very challenging. Churches in Rwanda have not understood the concept of sending out and supporting missionaries. For decades missionaries were send to Africa, not from Africa. The family of the local staff member often does not understand that YWAM does not provide a salary. Still God continues to call Rwandans for missions and they answer His call will gladness. Without any or very little, irregular support (often from outside Rwanda) they really live by faith. They are heroes!

There is very slowly a growing awareness in churches about missions that is not only relying on support from western countries. There is hope, but we still need partners who want to stand with our local missionaries.
